White fragrant flowers from June to August atop these tall plants.  Native to moist thickets, floodplains, flood plain forest openings, riverbanks, ditches and alluvial meadows.  Plants are dioecious, meaning plants are female or male, so in order to get cross pollination they should be planting in groups. Intolerant of dry soil and not recommended for full sun. Rare in IN and threatened in MN.
