Showy tick trefoil - a nitrogen fixing plant that grows well in moist to dry soils. Leaves have hairs that attach to clothing and fur, thus the name. Flowers bloom from top to bottom for a period of about 3 weeks in mid summer. Long-tonged bees get the nectar, while many mammals and insects dine on the foliage and birds and small rodents eat the seeds.
