Ceratostigma plumbaginoides

plumbago

Native to Western China

CHECK AVAILABILITY

Excellent ground-cover that spreads by rhizomes in full sun to partial shade in average to moist soil.  Thrives in clay, and is perfect for erosion control.  Deep blue flowers burst forth from July into September.  Folige turns a brozy red in fall.  Terrific for planting with early spring bulbs as it does not compete, but covers their dying foliage.  Extremely low maintenance.
