Thalictrum rochebrunianim

Meadow rue

Native to Japan

Sometimes called lavender mist meadow rue, this plant is truly a focal point in flower.  Prefers rich soil, but not fond of hot humid summers of the deep south.  Most impressive in mass, the plants have bluish-green finely pinate foliage (quite similar to Aquilegia), the flowers stems reach from 4-6 feet, sometimes taller, and are trussed with panicles of endless tiny nodding lavender purpler flowers with contrasting yellow stamens.  Rarely needs staking unless in a windy area.  Rabbit and deer tolerant.
